What is a charter school?

  • Legacy Charter School is a public school; is open to all children in Chicago; has no tuition; and has no entrance exams.

Where is Legacy?

  • We are temporarily located at Mason Elementary School, Keeler and 18th Street. We will relocate to a permanent facility within the same community.

How do I know if Legacy is right for my child?

  • If you are looking for a personalized learning environment, dedicated to creating a safe, engaging, and rigorous educational experience, Legacy may be right for your child.

How are parents involved?

  • Parents play a critical role in making Legacy a success. We expect and encourage parents to be active participants and help us provide the kind of educational and emotional environment that allows scholars to thrive. Parents have the opportunity to serve on our Parents Council and take part in a variety of school-wide events. Parents also participate in goal-setting sessions with their child.

How can I apply to enroll my child?

  • Applications are available at the school or on our website. If applications exceed openings, new scholars will be selected by lottery. Preference will be given to siblings of Legacy scholars.

What is Denton's involvement?

  • Legacy was founded by Dentons, a global law firm with over 100 years of history in Chicago. Its lawyers and staff are involved in Legacy and the lives of its scholars through activities such as tutoring and mentoring.
